Starting with the opening of the Whatcom Museum’s Lightcatcher facility in 2009, Straightup directed the daily marketing and communication needs of this art and history museum on a part-time, contract basis through 2014.

Working with museum leadership, staff and H Street Design Studio, Straightup developed a refreshing new image, voice and messaging for the museum and integrated it throughout all manner of outreach materials and activities.

Major achievements during this exceptionally lean economic period include the creation and quarterly production of the award-winning Inside newsletter, a 200+ page website, myriad exhibition materials (print, digital, video) unprecedented publicity and community participation in association with the landmark Vanishing Ice exhibition and the promising “Fifth Thursday,” an after-hours series designed to attract a multi-generational audience that pairs local drinks and food with a museum-based activity.
